H&H
A day fuThe day was completed with someone special.ll of smiles
The Days When Happiness Alights The bridegroom, with his gentle demeanor, always speaks to us politely. The bride has a cheerful smile, without affectation or putting on airs. We carefully proceeded with preparations so that such a couple as the two of you will comfortably, without having to act formally, enjoy the time with your guests, who will gather on your wedding days. The bridegroom met us with a friendly atmosphere that was never affected. The bride had a wonderful smile that was bright and full of charm. We still remember very well the day such a couple came to MAYA for the first time. Seeing that the couple’s conversation and ambience were perfectly in sync, we began to think that they had been together for a long time. It was then that the bride awkwardly told us, “The truth is we have been going out together for only a few months.” We heard that the couple were brought together through the connections of many people; soon after meeting each other, the couple got along very well; and they proceeded to talk about a future that they would spontaneously experience as a couple. While listening to their story, we moved ahead together with the preparations. At last, we reached their wedding day. On the first day, we welcomed the bride’s family, and they ate dinner together. They told us, “We want to eat Japanese food that will make us breathe a sigh of relief!” Thus, MAYA’s chef planned such a menu. Using ingredients from the couple’s hometown, the chef prepared a home-cooked meal whose flavors would make them spontaneously breathe a sigh of relief. For example, the chef prepared deep-fried chicken in a spicy sauce; spring rolls with shrimps, chrysanthemums, and potatoes; fried fishcakes; rice with octopus; a hearty pork miso soup; and boiled greens in season and chopped fish, seafood, and vegetables dressed with a sauce. This harmonious time on the night before the formal occasion was a moment when MAYA would truly become a part of the couple’s family. The formal occasion was eagerly awaited. Because of their desire to cherish time with their relatives and friends, respectively, the couple chose a two-shift reception. The reception to be spent with just the relatives of both families began with a toast from the couple. The couple introduced their parents, siblings, and relatives. After that, photos that brought back memories and were selected by their parents were shown on the screen. The couple spoke in their own words about their memories from childhood to the present. After that, their parents, who had kept the closest watch over them, and their relatives spoke fondly about episodes from those days. And a very warm and fuzzy time went by. Lots of the couple’s friends also came together, and the wedding ceremony began at last. While their beloved guests watched over them, the couple exchanged their vows. After that, they held their wine box ceremony. They packed the box, which contained their commemorative wine, with Polaroid pictures taken of their guests. In conclusion, they put in letters addressed to each other ten years into the future, nailed the box shut, and locked those things together with everyone’s thoughts. After everyone approved their marriage, the couple headed to the dining room with all their friends. The atmosphere was also different from the reception with their relatives. When things were lively with the voices of their friends, the couple, who loved alcohol, had on hand wines from their years of birth and held a sangria ceremony. Oranges, apples, kumquats, and strawberries were on hand for the red wine. Limes, lemons, and grapes were on hand for the white wine. The couple put in their guests’ glasses the fruits that their guests liked. Finally, the couple poured wine into their guests’ glasses and completed making the sangria. The happy-looking smiles of everyone drinking their sangria were memorable. Two nights and three days were spent with special someones as a family. Looking at the expressions of the couple who invited their special someones, even us staff persons had warm feelings as if we were really a part of their family.
